Our pricing model is simple and scalable:

<aside> 🗒️ Terminology

A Span is the building block of a trace. You might also think of spans as logs with extra functionality — a single row in our live view.

Metric means a single data point, sometimes called a “sample”.

Examples:

Under Free Allowance: If you send us 5M spans and 2.5M metrics in a month (that’s roughly 2 spans/second and 1 metric/second), your total of 7.5M units falls within the free plan. Your cost: $0!
Above Free Allowance: Sending 20M spans and 10M metrics totals 30M units. With 20M units above the free allowance, you would pay $40/month.

Billing timeline

Mid-to-late September - billing enabled
Oct 1 - first invoice

We won't bill for usage in September before we formally enable billing, and we'll notify you when that happens. Going forward, we'll invoice on the 1st of each month for usage during the previous calendar month.

One month data retention

The standard data retention period is one month. We plan to offer extended options for paying users later this year. If you need a longer retention period right now please subscribe and comment here or get in touch.
